LAHORE: A maiden meeting of the Council of Chairpersons was held here on Monday under the chair of Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan to discuss amendments to the Rules of Procedure, pending business of standing committees, and the scheduling of committees` meetings.
The speaker said this was the first meeting of the council in the history of the assembly.
He said that previously, the committees could only deliberate on referred matters, whereas now they have the authority to review all rules comprehensively.
Mr Khan mentioned that a proposal to allocate offices for committee chairpersons has been sent to the chief minister.
