Arifwala city police registered a case against employees of the company`s Kumharanwala office under section 407 (criminal breach of trust by a carrier) of PPC on a complaint by Advocate Iftikhar Ali. The police have yet to make arrests.
Reports said bar`s annual election for 202526 was held on Jan 11 under Iftikhar as election board head. Official results were declared the same evening. It is said that later, Rehan Akhter Wattoo, losing candidate for general secretary, challenged the results and filed a vote-counting appeal with the PunjabBar Council (PbBC).
The PbBC secretary directed the election chairman to dispatch all election material and ballot papers in a sealed bag to Lahore and set Jan 18 as the appeal hearing date. It is said that Iftikhar sent the election materials in a sealed packet to the secretary in Lahore through the local TCS office on Jan 15.
Iftikhar received an SMS from the company that the parcelhad been received by Mudasir Amin in Lahore on Jan 17.
On Jan 18, Iftikhar went to the hearing only to learn that the election materials had not been delivered to the PbBC secretary.
When lawyers grilled the local company office in Arifwala, they learned that Mudasir took away the election materials from either Lahore or Arifwala by creating a fraudulent record within the TCS system.
