L A HOR E: Actress Shabnam says Lahore is very close to her heart since she worked here for some three decades and did many films.
During a talk at the Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture (Pilac) on Friday, Shabnam remembered the good old days of the film scene in Lahore, saying she had countless memories associated with Lahore`s film industry.
She said her film career started in Bangladesh when her father encouraged her to act in films though her mother had resisted the idea initially. She was signed by Waheed Murad in his film, Samundar, in 1968.
About her all-time favourite song composed by her late husband Robin Ghosh, Shahnam said the song waspiyar bharay do sharmeelay nain.
Clad in a green sari, Shabnam said her film Aaina went super hit and it carried a strong message that how a committed girl could make and save her house despite all odds.
To another question, the veteran actress said though she had been in Pakistan for over a month she did not have an opportunity to watch any film recently produced here.
The audience warmly welcomed Shabnam when she reached the auditorium. Provincial minister Rana Mashhood was also present at the stage.
The talk was moderated by Pilac Director General Dr Sughra Sadaf and Dr Omar Adil Artistes and singers such as Shaukat Ali and Tarranum Naz presented flowers to Shabnam who also visited the ongoing spring festival being held at Pilac.
