95 businesses sealed for violating parking, building laws

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed on Friday 95 business premises on Abdul Haq Road in Johar Town for illegal land conversion, encroachment, violations of parking and building regulations, etc.

According to a spokesman for the authority, among the sealed properties are several shops, commercial plazas, pharmacies, food points, and bakeries. Repeated notices were given to the owners of properties to take action inaccordance with the rules.

LDA Director General/Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa told a meeting here on Friday a strict action should be taken against the defaulters of commercialization fees.

He said field teams should make the enforcement mechanism tougher, adding that regular meetings should be held to achieve the targets.

He said according to the court orders, concrete steps should be taken to upgrade and convert the nine important roads of the provincial capital into model ones.

LWMC: In order to stop the illegal dumping of waste acrossthe city, the LWMC Enforcement Wing inspected 5,411 points during the ongoing `Safai Nisf Eman Campaign`.

According to a spokesman, teams imposed fines amounting to Rs1.87 million on several people for illegal dumping and burning of waste. `Five illegal dumping vehicles were taken into custody while 11 FIRs were also registered for illegal dumping and burning of waste,` the spokesperson explained.

`More than 900 warning notices were also issued for minor violations. Furthermore, during the PSL matches 176 challans were also issued for littering atQaddafi Stadium, and 02 challans were issued by Greater Iqbal Park in connection with the Jashn-iBaharan Festival.

The teams also issued notices to nine housing societies in Allama Iqbal Town, 31 in Nishter Town, eight in Wahga Town and four in Aziz Bhatti Town followed by registering 8 FIRs against three societies of Nister Town and five of Allama Iqbal Town.

The company is making 274 union councils of the city zero waste under a 15-day special campaign. More than 12,000 workers and a fleet of 1100 vehicles are engaged in these special cleaning operations.
