SUKKUR: A group of Banglani clansmen allegedly attacked their rivals, belonging to the Mirani clan, killing one person and wounding four others in Channesar village within the jurisdiction of the Naparkot police station of Shikarpur district on Monday.

Reports from the area suggested that the armed Banglanis came to the village and argued with the Miranis about one of their (Miranis`) close relatives allegedly having an extramarital affair with a Banglani woman.

The argument between them turned hot and some of the enraged Banglanis started firing on Miranis, according to sources.

One person, Ayaz Mirani, died on the spot and his four fellow clansmen, Muneer, Aijaz, Ghulam Qadir and another one whose name could not be ascertained immediately, sustained bullet wounds in the attack.

Representing the aggrieved side, Noor Nabi Mirani told the media that the Banglanis also took away his several fellow clansmen at gun point.

The Naparkot police could not intervene in the matter and did not give their version on the episode till late in the evening.
