Dacoit with Rslm bounty surrenders to police

SUKKUR: A notorious dacoit with Rs1 million bounty on his head and wanted by police in 13 cases of heinous crimes surrendered to police on Monday, said DIG Javed Sunharo Jiskani.
He told Dawn that Ghulam Jatoi alias Ghulamoon, a hardened criminal operating in the Sukkur region, willingly surrendered to police.
The cases he faced involved murders, association in murders, dacoi-ties, robberies and other heinous crimes, he said.
He said that police persuaded Ghulam through their sources to surrender and lead a peaceful life.
Sometime back, Narejo gang`s ring leader and members Javed, Abdul Ghaffar, Faiz , Raza, Siraj, and Abdul Latif also laid down weapons, he said.
The DIG said that another hardened outlaw Qaimuddin Mahar, carrying Rsim head money, laid down weapons before Sukkur police.
Asked if police pro-vided legal support to criminals who surrendered, he said that a legal panel would fight their cases and `we will also help them lead a peaceful life within and without the jail`.
About any programme for supporting thereformed criminals` children, the DIG said that police had not yet such a program but they did always help the criminals become respectable citizens in many ways and support their families after completing their terms in jail.
