MoU signed for training PU students in life-saving skills

LAHORE: Punjab University Institute of Social & Cultural Studies (ISCS), Department of Public Health, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Punjab Emergency Services Department (PESD), Rescue 1122, offering training to the students in various life-saving skills, including CPR, fire safety etc.

The MoU signing ceremony was held in the committee room of Punjab University vice chancellor`s office. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, PESD Secretary Dr Rizwan Naseer, Registrar Dr Farhan Khalid, ISCS Director Prof Dr Rubeena Zakir, External Linkages Director Dr Sobia Khurram and others were present.

Under the MoU, Rescue 1122 will offer internship opportunities to students of BS/Master Workplace Promotionand BS/Master Public Health of the Department of Public Health.

Rescue 1122 will offer the students training in first aid, CPR, fire safety, risk assessment, community action for disaster response, community emergency response, rescue cadetcorpsandother life-saving skills.

The public health department will support Rescue 1122 in its mission to establish safer communities across Punjab/Pakistan. In this regard, PU will provide academic, technical and human resource assistance.

In his address, VC Dr Khalid said the MoU will be beneficial for the whole community.

UE: On the 10th anniversary of the China Belt and Road Initiative, the University of Education (UE), in collaboration with the Lahore Museum, will organise a `Star Moon Road; China Pakistan Contemporary Arts Exchange Exhibition` from May 3 to 5 at UE main campus here and from May 4 to 7at the Lahore Museum.

The exhibition aims to celebrate the 10th anniversary of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and promote cultural exchange and cooperation between the two countries.

The exhibition will showcase contemporary artworks from renowned Chinese and Pakistani artists, including paintings, sculptures, installations, and digital art. The artists will present their unique perspectives on culture, society, and contemporary issues through their artworks.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition will be held on May 3 at the UE main campus in Township, Lahore, in which prominent political and social figures of the country, vice chancellors of various universities, intellectuals and local as well as Chinese artists will participate.

In this regard, a meeting was held on Monday at the UE main campus, presided over by VC Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha.The VC directed the heads of all committees to complete the arrangements for the event soon.

He also ordered foolproof security of the event due to the arrival of foreign guests.
