QUETTA: The repatriation of Afghan refugees has picked up through Chaman and Baramcha border points, as authorities push to ensure the return of undocumented immigrants in a smooth and respectful manner.

A high-level meeting, chaired by Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan on Thursday, was told that any mistreatment during the process would not be tolerated and that the return of foreign nationals, including Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders, must be carried out in accordance with international laws.

The chief secretary called for expediting the repatriation process and announced plans to request the Ministry of Interior to extend Nadra`s operational hours and initiate double shifts to expedite the process.

The meeting reviewed the pro-vincial government`s preparations and strategy for the ongoing repatriation of undocumented foreign nationals. Additional Chief Secretary for Home Zahid Saleem briefed the meeting on the current situation and operational measures.

`The provincial government is implementing deportation policies in line with international practices, just like other countries,` Mr Saleem said. He added that the Prime Minister`s Office, the federal government, and intelligence agencies are closely monitoring the campaign nationwide.

Deputy commissioners have been asked to improve the mapping of immigrants in their districts and submit daily reports to the provincial authorities.

Officials informed the meeting that the identities of foreign nationals are being verified through Nadra in their respective districts prior to relocation via Chaman and Baramcha.
