LA HOR E: The Punjab government has decided to celebrate `in a befit ting manner` completion of 65 years of Pakistan-China friendship.
A meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Tuesday decided to hold week-long celebrations from May 19 to 23. Seminars covering various aspects ofthefriendship as well as a photo exhibition will figure prominently in the celebrations.
Mr Sharif also thanked the Chinese leadership for releasing Rs33 billion installment through the Exim bank for the Orange Metro train and termed it an expression of trust in the leadership of the PML-N government.
`Despite propaganda, speculationsand doubts[created by the opposition], the release of the installment ofRs33 billion for the project reflects full confidence of China in the leadership and policies of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as well as of the Punjab government.
He said some opponents launched `baseless` propaganda against the project and tried to create uncertainty. However, the Chinese government and leadership proved their unprecedented friendship with Pakistan by issuing the funds, he added.
Meanwhile, the chief minister told a group of parliamentarians that across-the-board accountability was nation`s demand and that those who plundered the national wealth and got their bank loans written off would have to be brought to the book.
He said result of recent bypolls showed the masses desired to see progress and development in the country and were against `negative politics`.
