ECP holds awareness workshop for journalists, civil society

PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday held a workshop for journalists and civil society organisations with the objectives to promote voter awareness and civic engagement.
The session brought together media representatives and members of civil society organisations to discuss the ECP`s special initiatives and strategies for empowering marginalised communities, according to an official statement.
Director (Elections) at the office Provincial Election Commissioner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohammad Nadeem Khan inaugurated the workshop and said he hoped that participants would become aware of the ECP`s special initiatives for stakeholders, especially marginalised groups.
He added that the ECP was committed to taking steps and efforts toincrease vote registra-tion and voter participation in the electoral process without any discrimination.
`This workshop aims to promote and encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote and participate in the democratic process.
By engaging with media and CSOs, we`re working to create a more informed and engaged citizenry, ultimately strengthening democracy in the country,` he said.
Director (Media Coordination) at the ECP Secretariat Duriya Aamir, Director (Elections)Mohammad Nadeem Khan and Deputy Director (MCO) Sohail Ahmad conducted sessions on the importance of voter registration and its role in shaping Pakistan`s democratic future and empowering marginalised communities, including women, youth and persons with disabilities, to participate in the democratic process.
