LARKANA: Lawyers` leaders have threatened to boycott court proceedings and stop police`s entry into courts if law and order situation does not improve in Larkana division and DIG Nasir Aftab Pathan is not removed from his position.

They were speaking at a lawyers` convention hosted by the District Bar Association (DBA), Larkana, here at theassociation`s bar room on Tuesday. The law practitioners from across the division and members of the Sindh Bar Council also attended the event.

Announcing a sit-in in front of the DIG Larkana`s office, they warned that if their demands were not fulfilled, the protest would continue for an indefinite period of time.

The meeting resolved to give the DIG Larkana a two-day deadline to restore the law and order in the division. If the situation did not improve, the lawyers protest in front of the DIG`s office would go ahead.

Addressing the convention and later speaking to media, Ismail Abro, Javed Baloch, Abdul Sattar Helio and others stated that the meeting concluded that the law and order situation in Larkanadivision had deteriorated.

They said the DBA had decided to boycott court proceedings starting Wednesday (today) and ban police entry into the courts. The DIG Larkana had been given two days to establish the law and order across the division, otherwise, the lawyers would hold a sit-in in front of his office, which would continue until his transfer, they said.

They mentioned that all four members of the Sindh Bar Council and all five bar presidents of the division were supporting the protest, and a request would be made to the president of the High Court Bar Association to join their cause.

Expressing concern, they said the law and order across the five districts of Larkana division had deteriorated drastically, with incidents of theft, robbery,raids and murder becoming commonplace.

A lawyers` delegation had earlier met with the DIG Larkana, but unfortunately, the response was not positive, they said.

The event was attended by DBA president advocate Muhammad Ismail Abro, vice president advocate Javed Baloch, general secretary advocate Ghulam Mustafa Magsi, High Court Bar general secretary Asif Chandio and members of the Sindh Bar Council, including senior lawyers Inayatullah Morio, Azhar Abbasi, Rafiq Ahmed Abro, Rauf Korai, advocate Abdul Sattar Helio.

Presidents and general secretaries from the five bars of Larkana Division, along with many other lawyers, were also presenton the occasion.
