Candidates promise to resolve chronic water issue in Mohmand

GHALANAI: The candidates of various political parties in Mohmand tribal district have promised restoration of peace, provision of clean drinking water, basic health and equal education facilities to the people if they won the July 25 general elections.
An interaction with candidates shows that every contestant has something new to offer to the voters.
Mohammad Saeed Khan, Jamaat-i-Islami`s district emir and candidate for the national seat of NA-42, said that his party had presented a 19-point agenda for the area`s development.
He said the party had focused on supplying clean drinking water, and ensuringprovision ofelectricity, education,healthfacilities and establishment of youth sports complex at tehsil level, and free transport services to poor students.
He said JI would focus on building high schools both for boys and girls in Ambar, Khwezai and Blazal tehsils, which lacked such facilities.
PPP nominee Malik Israil Khan said his mission was to end poverty and take steps to provide jobs to the educated youth.
Awami National Party`s district president and candidate, Nisar Ahmad said his party was focused on restoring durable peace to the militancy-plagued region.
He said the party had lost many leaders and workers to terrorist attacks.
Mr Ahmed said if he won the polls he would work for constructing schools, colleges and skill training centres in each tehsil. He assured the Khasadar personnel of taking the issue of pensions on the floor of the assembly.
The ANP leader said provision of jobs to local youths in the Momand Dam would be his first priority. He said non-custom paid vehicles would be allowed in all parts of KP.
Mr Ahmad said all the basic issues of tribesmen like water, power, health and education would be resolved on priority basis.
The establishment of a university and degree colleges were part of the ANP manifesto, he said.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate, Sajid Khan guaranteed provision of equal male and female education opportunities in the region.
He said PTI would resolve all the collective problems faced by Mohmand tribesmen.
Former MNA Bilal Rehman, who is contesting as independent, said he had already done a lot of development work in all the eight tehsils of the tribal region.
Former senator Abdur Rehman Faqir said he would build check dams to permanently resolve the drinking water problem in the tribal district.
The political candidates also promised to arrange funds for reconstruction of damaged health and education facilities.
