RAWALPINDI: A play based on the scourge of drugs was presented at the Rawalpindi Arts Council in collaboration with Aims Association.

The chief guest of the play was Naheed Manzoor and the council`s director, Waqar Ahmed.

The play,Mera Ishq Veetan,was written and directed by William Parvez. Zabar Sarhadi, Ali Shan, Sofia Ali, Imran Rushdie, Rizwana Khan, Kashif Ali and Maimoona performed in the drama.

Rawalpindi Arts Council Director Waqar Ahmed said drug dealers killed talent of the young generation and destroyed the future of millions.

`Troubled youths are gotten addicted to drugs by saying that it is a medicine to solve their problems. There is a need to take measures on an emergency basis to eradicate it so thatfuture generations can be kept away from its harmful effects,` he said.

He further said if everyone considered it their responsibility to eliminate this evil, there would come a time when we would be able to rid the country of the scourge of drugs. Staff Reporter
