Man arrested for torturing donkey to death

CHINIOT: A man was arrested by the Rajoa police for torturing and causing the death of a donkey.

Sharafat Ali, a resident of Kot Ahmad Yar, was arrested in a case registered against him under Section 429 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The incident unfolded when Sahib Bibi, a household worker who relied on her donkey for earning a livelihood by using a donkey cart to transport material on rent, set her donkey freefor grazing.

The donkey wandered into Sharafat`s crops which enraged Sharafat, and he resorted to beating the donkey with sticks and rods.

The repeated acts of torture resulted in the donkey`s death.

MUHARRAM: With the aim of ensuring the peaceful observance of Muharram, the district administration held a meeting chaired by District Police Officer Abdullah Ahmad to discuss and finalise arrangements.

A comprehensive security plan has been put in place forthe 258 processions and 685 majalis (religious gatherings) in the district.

The security arrangements involve the deployment of 1,500 police personnel who will provide a four-layer security cover for all the processions during Muharram.

The Elite Force will be readily available as a quick responseforce,andifrequired, the Pakistan Army will be called upon for assistance.

To monitor the activities effectively, a dedicated control room equipped with CCTV cameras, surveillance vehi-cles, and drone cameras has been est ablishe d.

Entry points of the processions and gatherings will be safeguarded with metal detectors, followed by physical searches.

In order to prevent any untoward incidents during this month, District Police Officer Abdullah Ahmad has instructed all station house officers to strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures.

DRIVING LICENSE VAN: District Police Officer Abdullah Ahmad inaugurateda driving license van, aimed at providing convenient driving tests and issuance of learner and final licenses to drivers at their doorsteps.

Zahida Parveen, district traffic officer, highlighted that the driving license van will reach even the far-flung areas to provide services such as issuance of learner permits, driving tests, new licenses, and renewals.

The implementation of modern technology is expected to improve police services and facilitate the residents of the district.
