Display of arms, pillion riding banned in Bannu

LAKKI MARWAT: Bannu Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Ahmad Afridi has banned display of arms, pillion riding and use of tinted glasses for 14 days in the district as part of the Muharram security plan.
An official said on Monday that the restrictions would remain intact till July 31 and the violators would face action as per law. He said that the ban was imposed on the request of the district police officer for peaceful observance of Ashura.
`The deputy commissioner has also banned standing on rooftops of houses and staying of strangers in hotels, inns and houses located on the routes of mourner processions,` he said.
The official said that distribution of hate material, wall chalking, hate speeches, misuse of loudspeakers and construction work on the routes of processions were also banned.
Also in the day, the deputy commissioner chaired a meeting of the district price review committee. He asked officials concerned to check prices in bazaars regularly and share progress reports with administration on daily basis.
`The price magistrates should ensure display of official price lists at prominent places in the shops and business outlets and its implementation by trades in letter and spirit,` he said.
KILLED: A woman was killed and three others were wounded when an auto-rickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a trailer truck near Umar Adda in Lakki Marwat on Monday.
Police said that the women belonging to Samandar Titterkhel village were going to collect Benazir Income SupportProgramme stipends. The deceased womanwasidentified asGulNigara Bibi, 56, while the injured included Safia Bibi, Gul Nara Bibi and Sher Bano.
The de ceased and injured women were shifted to district headquarters hospital in Tajazai after the accident.
Mohammad Ishfaq Khan, the son of the deceased woman, told police that he found the body of his mother when he reached the hospital. He said that the auto rickshaw was also badly damaeed in the accident. how-ever, its driver remained unhurt. Correspondent
