CS told to resolve FCS, KFHA issues

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the chief secretary to act as arbitrator to resolve a dispute between Fishermen`s Co-operative Society (FCS) and Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority (KFHA) at the earliest.

He also directed the secretaries of fisheries, co-operative societies and law departments as well as advocate general to plead government`s point of view in the Sindh High Court for the early disposal of a petition about FCS management.

The chief minister issued the directives while presiding over a meeting at CM House on Monday.

He said fisheries production was a major source of foreign exchange and it was high time that the Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority be developed on modern lines up to the European Union standard to benefit from the country`s GS-Plus status.

He also directed the cooperative societies secretary to appoint elected administrator on each co-operative housing society in the province without fail.

Earlier, Fisheries Minister Jam Khan Shoro, Fisheries Secretary Noor Ahmed Leghari, Co-operative Secretary Inamullah Dharejo and Co-operative Registrar Ghulam Hussain Memon informed the meeting that matter regarding FCS management was pending in the Sindh High Court because of a dispute between the previous and present management committees.

Similarly, KFHA reservations for not implementation an agreement between FCS and KFHA in letter and spirit were also pending with the chief secretary for arbitration.
