BADIN: Jobless youths and members of civil society took out a procession on Thursday to voice protest against a number of non-governmental organisations working in the district, accusing them of ignoring locals in jobs.
The protesters led by Raza Shah, Usman Mallah, Siddiq Gopang and others marched from Qatar Mosque to the press club where they staged a sit-in.
The protesters told journalists that the NGOs` officers inducted their own favourites belonging to other districts through the backdoor. One NGO, they claimed, had received Rs5 billion from European Union and Sindh government for carrying out development work in Badin and the organisation had been making recruitments for the purpose for the past four months, they said.
They said the NGO managers did not realise how a `Great Wall of China` was being erected in front of locals by the selfish officials who believed that none except their own men should get benefits from the organisation.
They demanded the government should impose a ban on all such NGOs which were depriving locals of their rightful share in jobs.
They also warned NGOs to recruit local youths, or else they would stan a campaign against them and would not allow them to work in the district.
