NOWSHERA: The police on Monday arrested the suspected teenage killer of a minor girl in Nowshera area and claimed that the 17-year-old had confessed to the murder.
District police officer retired Captain Najmul Hasnain told reporters that the suspected killer revealed during initial investigation that he killed the next-door neighbour after attempting to rape her and threw the body stuf fed in a gunnysack at a deserted poul-try f arm in Rashakai area.
He said the postmortem and DNA test reports were awaited.
Mr Hasnain said a special team was formed to trace killer(s) of the girl, whose body was found around 100 meters from her house.
He said the police built up detailed profiles of the male residents aged between 15 and 35 years and arrested a neighbour of the girl on suspicion, who later confessed to the murder.
The DPO said the police traced the suspected killer by finding clothes with blood stains.
`The suspect is 17 or 18 and is not married,he said.
The DPO said both the suspected killer and deceased belonged to Bajaur tribal district and lived in Rashakai area.
The girl`s father, Imran Khan, formally complained to police that the deceased left home to play with friends at 2pm but didn`t return until 3pm, so the family began a search for her.
He said her daughter`s body was found stuffed in a sack at a poultry farm, where two blood-stained bricks were also present.
Our Correspondent from Bajaur adds: Leaders of the Bajaur Youth Jirga on Mondaycondemned the girl`s killing in Nowshera and called for the public hanging of perpetrators.
Jirga chairman Wajid Ali Khan and leaders Obidullah Khan, Sartaj Khan and Fazal Subhan Khan said the brutal murder of the minor girl had shocked the entire tribal district.
They said the girl`s family was very poor and had been living in Rashaki area of Nowshera district for several years.
The Jirga leaders asked the Nowshera police to arrest the culprits with delay and ensure their public hanging.
