Traders continue protest against FBR

SARGODHA: The currency exchange owners announced to continue the strilce until the desealing of their businesses by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

According to sources, in the meeting, they said that the traders were being punished for their work. They said it was unprecedented the way the traders were being blackmailed.

They announced that the strike would not be called off until the shops are desealed.

The trading community announced a complete shutdown strike on Tuesday in full solidarity with the currency exchanges.

According to sources, the patron-in-chief of the Sarafa associationMatin Ahmed Qureshi, along chambers president Khawaja Yasir Qayyum, Hassan Yousuf, Nasir Mahmood Sehgal, Khawaja Ahmed Hanif and other business leaders, announced a complete shutdown strike against the FBR`s action in the city.He said they would not pay extortion to the FBR under any circumstances.

The Sarafa Association held a protest in its market as a part ofthe ongoing strilce. It demanded the government stop the FBR officers from taking action.

CRACKDOWN: The district administration has launched a crackdown on the filling stations charging excessive prices despite decrease in fuel rates.

According to sources, Assistant Commissioner Shahpur Dr Abid Mumtaz Sial checked various petrol pumps and imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on them for charging more than the official price list of diesel.

FIRE: A sudden fire broke out at an LPG decanting shop in Sargodha.

According to sources, the hre broke out at the shop near a private hospital in the Qainchi Mor Chowk area of the city and flames engulfed the entire shop.

As soon as the incident was reported, a rescue operation was started and Rescue 1122 managed to control the fire.
