SAHIWAL: Pakpattan District Police Officer (DPO) Javed Chadhar on Sunday suspended a constable and his wife, also in the same rank, over `misconduct` with a female devotee visiting the Baba Farid`s shrine.

According to police sources, both constable Rashid and his wife constable Ishrat were deployed at the shrine`s entrance gate when a verbal altercation occurred between the former and a young girl, a resident of Ferozepur, Chishtian, whowas visiting the shrine with her father, sister and younger brother.

Following the exchange of words with the girl, Ishrat called her husband, who allegedly physically attaclced the devotee.

Sources say that during the scuffle with Rashid, the girl`s bangles were broken and she sustained injuries to her arm.

The matter was immediately reported to the DPO, who suspended the couple from service.

However, no case has been registered against them so far, the sources say.
