LAHORE: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday filed an application before the Lahore High Court for review of its order for a complete blackout of Altaf Husain’s activities in the media for his speeches against state institutions.
MQM MNA Farooq Sattar and its Senator Mian Attique filed the applications through Asma Jahangir and Khalid Ranjha.
The applicants also sought court’s permission to become a party in the case, pleading that the ban on the media coverage of Altaf Husain was unconstitutional.
A full bench on Sept 7 had directed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) and others to ensure a complete ban on covering Hussain’s activities in both print and electronic media. The bench had passed the order on petitions of Advocate Aftab Virk, Abdullah Malik and others.
The bench would take up the application on Friday (today) along with the main case.
