6,000 bags of hoarded urea seized

SAHIWAL: In an intelligence-based operation, the agriculture department along with police recovered 6,000 urea fertilizer bags from a private warehouse in Pakpattan.

Agriculture officer Muhammad Habib and Special Branch official Mian Akram led the raid on the warehouse owned by Abdul Kareem Sukhera, who is one of the biggest fertilizer dealer in the division.

On Sept 11, a truck carrying 1,500 urea bags was captured by farmers and Sahiwalagricultureofficials on the Sahiwal-Fasilabad road near Noorshah.

The truck had brought urea from Sadigabad and it was about to be unloaded in one of the warehouses owned by Abdul Kareem Sukhera.

Noorshah police booked him under the Punjab Fertilizer (Control) Order 1973 and The Punjab EssentialArticles(Control) Act 1973 and seized the truck. On a direction by court and DC, the urea was sold among farmers on controlled prices.
