TOBA TEK SINGH: A Misaq conference was organised by the district police at the Church of Pakistan in Christian village of Chak 424JB in tehsil Gojra, which was attended by a number of Muslim scholars of all schools of thought as well as the leaders of the Christian community.

Toba District Police Officer Syed Karar Hussain also participated in it.

Speaking on the occasion, the DPO said the Misaq centres, having police officials belonging to the minorities, had been established across the province to protect the rights of the minorities and handle the issuesfaced by the minority communities.

He said at Misaq centre, one could get a copy of the FIR, missing police documents and those related to rented property, vehicle verification certificate, police character certificate, police employee certificate and driving licence. He said the role of the Christian community in establishing peace and promoting religious tolerance was very important and in the current situation, their cooperation would help the police to stop any kind ofconspiracies to destroy peace.

The Christian leaders, including Pastor Adnan Joseph, Pastor Waqas, Pastor Adnan Sarfraz, assured full cooperation, saying they were standing by police and security agencies.

The Muslim community leaders, including Pir Israrul Bahar, also offered cooperation to police and Christian leaders to promote interfaith harmony and tolerance.

TRAIN: A train had a narrow escape from an accident near the Pirmahal Railway Station.

According to eyewitnesses, a passerby saw that one side of the track had developed a crack. He immediately rushed to the railway level crossing gate keeper and told him about it. The railway worker took action to stop the Lahorebound 121 Up Ravi Express bound that was coming from the Shorkot Cantonment near the crack site. The worlcer waved flags and clothes to take attention of the train driver who used brakes just a few meters from the faulty track.

The train remained halted there until the railway staffers replaced the broken piece of track. Railway authorities launched a probe to End the cause of the crack.

MURDER: The blind mur-der case of a young man of Chak 334-JB whose body was found in an orchard outside Chak 336-JB in tehsil Gojra two weeks back, had been resolved and Nawan Lahore police arrested a suspect in the case.

Police said the suspect, Ihsanul Haq, had confessed to committing the murder of Ali Raza (26) after an exchange of harsh words over a monetary dispute.

RAPED: A child was raped by a man in Chak 241-GB Garha in Gojra.

According to Gojra Saddar police, 10-year-old boy was playing in the street outside his home when the suspect lured him towards the crops and forcibly committed rape with him. Police arrested the suspect.

ROBBERY: Thieves took away gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth more than Rs5m at the Chah Naiwala locality near Bahadurpur Canal Bridge on the Pattan Road in the Shorl(ot City police area.

Family of Tayyab Sarohi informed police that thieves entered the house after breaking the roof and took away Rs3m, 10 tola gold ornaments, three kilograms of silver and a number of household items of the dowry of their daughters.
