MUZAFFARGARH: A case of direct illegal electricity supply was filed against former MPA Syed Qaim Ali Shamsi at Alipur police under section 462-1 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to sources, a special task force team inspected the electricity connection at former MPA Shamsi`s properties and discovered that there was a direct power supply without an electricity meter.

The team imposed a substantial fine and lodged a case against him. Multan Electric Power Companies teams in Muzaffargarh and Layyah districts have already registered more than 50 cases related to electricity theft and imposed heavy fines on thieves.

On the other hand, Mr Shamsi contended that he had paid an electricity bill of Rs150,000 when the tasl( team initially investigated the matter. He claimed that the case against him was unjustly registered. Mr Shamsi was earlier associated with the PTI and now he is part of the PPP.
