KARACHI: Sindh Transport Minister Nasir Shah has once again promised to introduce 600 new buses in the metropolis in the next three months.
Talking to various delegations, who highlighted transport issues, in his office onTuesday, he said the government had decided to seek proposals from transporters and transport companies during the current month so that after evaluating them the buses could be brought on city roads.
This is the third time during the last seven months that the minister has made the same promise.On April 18 this year, Mr Shah had announced on the floor of the Sindh Assembly while responding to a question by opposition leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan during the Question Hour that over 637 diesel buses would be launched in the city in the next couple of months.
Then again on July 4 while replying to Mutt ahida QaumiMovement`s legislator Heer Soho, he said as many as 635 new buses would be made operational in the metropolis in the first phase of the plan `in a month or two` The residents of the city are now hoping against hope that the third promise of the transport minister would eventually see the light of day.
