SUKKUR: A Jirga (tribal court) on Monday settled a dispute between two groups of the Rind community over an extramarital affair, called ‘karo-kari’ in local parlance.

The Jirga, presided over by Shah Ali Rind, in Jafarabad village near Tangwani town of Kandhkot-Kashmore district, heard grievances of the two sides in the presence of a large number of people.

Pronouncing his ruling, Mr Rind said the allegation of extramarital affair against Saleem Rind stood proved. He ordered the ‘convict’ to pay a fine of Rs600,000 to the aggrieved side headed by Pathan Rind.

Accepting the ruling, Saleem Rind and his family members paid Rs100,000 to the other side on the spot and undertook to pay off the remaining amount to them within the next three months.
