RCCI urged to explore commercial production of airplane parts

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) should form a joint working group to explore the opportunities in the commercial production of spare parts through the up-gradation of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra, for manufacturing auto parts, commercial engines and industrial turbines, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman has said.
According to a press release issued by the RCCI on Thursday, an RCCI delegation led by Raja Amer Iqbal called on the air chief marshal at the Air Headquarters, Islamabad.
The air chief is said to have appreciated the RCCPs role in boosting trade activities in the region.
He asked the RCCI delegation to explore the possibilities of collaboration in the defence industry and identified different areas as a way forward for the private sector.
Giving a briefing on Pakistan Air Force activities, the air chief said that the air force was committed to safe-guarding the boundaries of Pakistan and that the air defence of the country is impregnable.
`PAC Kamra is fully operational and is self-reliant in defence production, he added.
The air chief shared updates on various projects including residential colonies for widows, the families of martyrs and for orphans.
RCCI President Raja Amer Iqbal lauded the suggestion for the joint working group and said the private sector will explore more opportunities in the aviation industry.
He briefed the air chief about the RCCPs memorandum of understandings (MOU) with various universities for turning the attention of more graduates towards business and entrepreneurship.
He expressed hope that an MOU will be signed with the Air University as well. The RCCPs delegation included Senior Vice President Rashid Waien, Vice President Asim Malik, group leaders Sheikh Shabir, Sohail Altaf, S M Naseem, former presidents Doctor Hassan Sarosh and Doctor Shimail Daud.
