Robber kills childhood friend

TAXILA: The Taxila police claimed on Thursday that they have solved a murder case, in which a trader was shot in a robbery near Mushragiabad on Sept 18.

At a press conference, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Deputy Superintendent of Police Sajid Gondal said Haris Muneer, a local trader, was shot and killed while he was returning home af ter closing up his steel store.

According to the FIR, two men on a motorcycle stole Rs750,000 from him, shot him and then fled. Muneer died on the way to the hospital.

Mr Gondal said a childhood friend of the victim confessed to planning the robbery that led to Muneer`s death.

He said the suspect`s accomplices were also apprehended, and the stolen cash and murder weapon were recovered. Separately, two people were killed in separate incidents in the Wah Saddar and Hazro police areas.

Tahir Mehmood died while he was cultivating a field when his tractor turned over, trapping him under it.

The half burnt body of a 40 year old man was found near the Katti Pahari near Chach Interchange.

Investigating officer Sikandar Hayat said the man had been killed and his body dumped at a deserted location.

He said the body was burnt to conceal the man`s identity, and the police have registered a case and begun an investigation to determine the victim`s identity from his fingerprints through the National Database and Registration Authority.
