Balakot councillors vote nazim, deputy out again

MANSEHRA: The Balakot tehsil council on Friday passed a fresh no confidence motions against nazim Rustam Khan and naib nazim Sardar Abdul Qudus with a majority vote, ousting the two from the respective of fices.

However, the ouster and schedule for the subsequent election for the two vacant offices will be notified by the Election Commission of Pakistan af terwards.

Earlier, the high court`s Abbottabad circuit bench had annulled the last month`s no confidence proceedings against the nazim and naib nazim, both of the PML-N, after declaring them unlawful and asked councillors to ensure the adherence to the Local Government Act, 2013, in case of fresh motion.

During the polling on no confidence motions in the 19-strong house, all 15 PML-N councillors except Arshad Zaman and two PTI councillors voted against the nazim and naib nazim PML-N councillor Mian Salahuddin, who was in the chair, later announced unofficial results of the voting.

He said he would send the results to the ECP for the notification of the ouster of nazim and his deputy and issuance of schedule for elections on the vacant seats.

Councillors IbrahimAhmad Shah of the PTI and Sardar Liaquat Khassana of the PML-N, who had moved the motions, said they had joined hands for the region`s development, which was more important for them than politics.

PML-N district president Zaf ar Mehmood has already served show cause notices to the party`s councillors for supporting the earlier no confidence motion against nazim and naib nazim.

PTI`S PUBLIC MEETING: The PTI has finalised preparations for the Nov 26 public meeting inMansehratobeaddressed by party chairman Imran Khan.

The PTI leaders and officer-bearers met here to discuss preparations to turn the public meeting successful.

The PML-N has also planned to hold a public meeting in Abbottabad on Nov 19 to be addressed by deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

PTI district president Babar Saleem Swati, who chaired the meeting, said the party would mobilise workers and sympathisers for the success of the Nov 26 event.

HOTELS SEALED: The district government on Friday sealed seven hotels here for unhygienic conditions.

During surprise visits, a team of various departments led by assistant commissioner Abdul Rehman also found the hotels located on Abbottabad Road, Kashmir Road and Shinkiari Road to be operating with licences from the Tourism Development Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
