LAHORE: PPP leader Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan on Wednesday said the authenticity of an affidavit of former chief justice of Gilgit Baltistan Rana Shamim against former chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar was suspicious.

Responding to queries of the journalists at the Lahore High Court, the senior lawyer said the affidavit of the former judge apparently looked bogus as the allegations narrated in it were flimsy.

He wondered how a chief justice, if wants, would issue unlawful instructions to a high court`s judge while sitting in a gathering as alleged by Mr Shamim.

Ahsan said the affidavit of Rana Shamim was just another ploy by the Sharif family like the controversies of `Calibri font` and letter of a Qatari prince.

Doubting the affidavit, also reported in the media, the PPP leader said the former chief justice of GB visited London two days after the death of his brother in Pakistan only to get his affidavit attested by the notary public.

He said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had not so far furnished the money trail of his assets.

He said the issuer and the facilitator of the affidavit would face penal consequences if proved to be bogus.
