Shikarpuri Colony case

THE hearing of the Shikarpuri Colony case under sections 121-A and 122 IPC (conspiracy to overthrow an Established Government) and sections 4, 5 and 6 of the Explosive Substances Act against Nand Bijlani, Khanchand Gopaldas, Advocate, and 39 others was resumed in the court of the Additional District Magistrate, Mr B.L. Tobin, on Wednesday [Dec 17]. Four Crown witnesses were examined.

Mr Moolchand R. Rajput, sub-inspector, Sind CID, in charge of Hindu affairs in Karachi, deposed that he had detailed Head Constables Bhagwandas Sitlani and Motiram to keep watch over the activities of Hindus living in the Bunder Road Extension for the last two years. The subinspector received daily reports of the Rastriya Savak Sangh activities in the Bunder Road Extension locality. He learnt from these reports that the Sangh members in batches of 100 to 300 had regular drill exercises, and had military parades. These members were also given training in war tactics. Witness had also seen ... the Sangh members parading the streets with lathies and doing physical drill. He also saw a large number of motor cycles, cars, trucks and motor jeeps in action.
