LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday issued a notice to the Punjab government on a petition challenging restrictions of one-dish and limited time for wedding functions under the Punjab Marriage Functions Ordinance of 2016 and its implementation on houses.
A member of the public challenged the ordinance promulgated by the Punjab government for regulations of marriage functions and other related ceremonies.
The petitioner said the ordinance was in conflict with fundamental rights and right of life read with quality of life, right of privacy and to enjoy the life accordingly.
The petitioner asked the court to set aside the impugned ordinance being ultraviresoftheConstitution and in direct conflict with the fundamental rights of the citizens.
After a brief hearing, Justice Mirza vigas Rauf sought a reply from the government by Feb 10.
