Citizens complain about police, revenue dept

TAXILA: Deputy commissioner (DC) and city police officer (CPO) listened to public complaints mostly against police and revenue department at an open court on Friday.

The complaints against local police were about involving people in fake cases, inaction against growing robberies and their alleged collaboration with land mafia.

The people said traffic wardens hardly took action against unregistered and underage rickshaw drivers.

People mostly women and senior citi-zens asked the district administration officials that agents at revenue departments had made obtaining land record a Herculean task for them.

People from different walks of life also drew attention of deputy commissioner towards sale of stamp papers at exorbitant rates by vendors, unchecked encroachments by pushcart holders on Taxila chowk.

Addressing to the participants, deputy commissioner Dr Umer Jehangir said the divisional and district administrationofñcers organised open courts on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

He said the objective of holding of open courts was to listen public complaints against different departments so that immediate remedial measures could be taken.

He said the complaints received during the open courts would be addressed on priority basis.

According to the directions of the Punjab government, open courts wouldregularly be held on Fridays by the officers of divisional and district administration and police.

He asked the citizens to participate in the open courts to get their complaints redressed without any delay.

City Police Officer Ahsan Abbas said provision ofrapidjustice to the aggrieved citizens was the top priority of the police and measures were being taken for the protection of lives and properties. Correspondent
