BAJAUR: A labourer was killed and another wounded in a marble mine collapse in Salarzai tehsil here on Thursday, officials said.

Police and Rescue 1222 officials said that a group of labourers were working at the marble mine in Islam Deheri area when a portion of it collapsed.

Station house Officer (SHO) of Salarzai police station Saidur Rehman, who visited the site, told Dawn that a labourer, Nawaz Khan, died on the spot while Rahimullah was critically wounded. According to a Rescue 1122 statement, the wounded was shifted to the district headquarters hospital by co-workers. It said that the condition of the wounded person was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, four persons including three children were wounded in a pressure cooker explosion in Mamond tehsil here on Thursday.

According to Rescue 1222, the incident took place in Gat Agra area inside the house of a villager. In a statement, the Rescue 1122 said that a woman was cooking in the kitchen when the pressure cooker exploded.-Correspondent
