Karak police, elders join hands for better law and order situation

LAKKI MARWAT: Elders and police have agreed to make concerted efforts to improve law and order situation and eliminate drug trafficking in Karak district.
The agreement came during a meeting at the Bahadarkhel police post here on Saturday.
The meeting was called on the orders of district police officer Shahbaz Elahi to seek help from the local elders to eliminate narcotics dens.
Police officials and elders discussed the issues, including the poor law and order situation, drug trafficking, and the growing incidence of firing in the air.
Khurram police station SHO Baseer Khan asked elders to cooperate with police to make action against drugpeddlersresult-oriented.
He warned if the menace of drugs wasn`t controlled, then youths, especially students, would suffer a great deal.
Officials said joint efforts by police and people would help maintain peace besides controlling crimes and drug trafficking. The elders appreciated the police chief for ordering a crackdown on drug dealers and promised cooperation to police for eliminating crimes and narcotics trade from the district.
They asked police to activate chagha parties (armed villagers) to help police fight criminals.
Meanwhile, the police arrested a proclaimed offender in the Takht Nusrati area of Karak district.
The arrest of Nasir Iqbal by a team of the Yaqoob Khan Shaheed police station came on a tip-off. The police also seized 4.5kg of hashish and shifted the detainee to the police station before booking him under the law. Correspondent
