HYDERABAD: The Sindh government`s transport and mass transit department launched Pink Bus Service for women in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Pakistan Peoples Party Sindh women wing leader MNA Shagufta Jumani, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Technology Tanzila Qambrani and Secretary Transport Abdul Haleem Shaikh inaugurated the service at a special ceremony at SRTC Bus Terminal in Qasimabad.
Ms Jumani hailed the launch of bus service and said it was launched in the city after Karachi and Sukkur to provide quality transport to women. Two buses would initially ply from Hyder Chowk to Hatri bypass to facilitate female students and working women, she said.
She said the bus had also provision for physically challenged women.
Secretary Transport Haleem Shaikh said that the routes of the bus service would be increased soon. The bus fare would be Rs50 and it would pass through Hyder Chowk, Gul Center, Thandi Sarak, Wahdat Colony, Sindh Museum, Qasim Chowk, Pathan Colony, Central Jail, Hala Naka and Isra Hospital to reach its final destination at Hatri Bypass, he said.-Staff Correspondent
