Four held for attack on Rangers post

GILGIT: Security forces continued search on Wednesday for the suspected terrorists involved in the attack on a Pakistan Rangers checkpost on the Karakuram Highway.
During the operation on Tuesday security forces arrested four suspected persons from Basha area of Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for allegedly giving shelter to the terrorists.
Security forces have also constituted a 60-member jirga comprising elders from Basha, Shatial and Harban areas of Kohistan to help in arrest of the culprits.
The jirga is led by PML-N MNA from Kohistan, Sar Zamin Khan.
Diamer superintendent of police Rauf Kaiserani told Dawn that personnel of Pakistan Army, Diamer and Kohistan police, GB Scouts, Frontier Constabulary, and Pakistan Rangers were taking part in the search operation.
Mr Kaiserani said thatsecurity forces continued search operation in hilly areas of Harban, Basha, and Shatial on the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday.
The police official said that security forces cordoned off the areas in Kohistan and raided many suspected places to trace the alleged attackers. He said that the jirga members were fully coordinating with the security forces to help trace the terrorists Replying to a question, he said that 15 terrorists in army uniform had allegedly attacked the Rangers checkpost.
`It seems terrorists carried out the attacl< on the pattern of the past strikes, including assassination of foreigners at Nanga Parbat and Shia passengers at KKH.
The police official said that the four suspects held on Tuesday were arrested on a tip-off by the jirga.
The police official claimed that banned TTP`s district Kohistan head, Sharafatuddin was the main culprit behind the incident.
