KARACHI: Prof Shaul He was born in Jhang in 1922 and did his MBBS from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, in 1944.
According to his family and friends, he received Tamghai-Imtiaz for his contribution to cardiovascular medicine.
Dr Syed joined the army in 1945 and fought in World War II on the Burmese frontier.
After the creation of Pakistan, his services were placed at the disposal of the Pakistan Navy and he was posted to PNS Shifa in Karachi, where he was official in charge of the cardiology department. He was promoted to the rank of rear admiral in the Pakistan Navy and major general in the Pakistan Army.
He was retired in 1983 and concentrated on gardening, leading a quiet life. According to his subordinates, he had the best and gentlest of hands for his patients.
