LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday granted pre-arrest ball to a woman who had allegedly knocked down three men in self-defence when a charged mob attacked her car outside Yohanabad.
Mariam Safdar appeared beforethe court along with her counsel and said she was driving through the road when the mob stopped her car. She said the mob tried to damage her vehicle and also manhandiedher.She saidshetriedtospeed away as her life was at risk and hit the three men accidentally.
AD&SJ Shahzad granted bail to thewomantillMarch24 and directed her to join police investigation.SUMMONED: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday summoned the Faisalabad DCO and the CPO on a petition challenging detention of a leader of the Idara Minhajul Quran.
Kubra Rizvi stated in the petition that her husband, Afzal Rizvi, a leader of the organisation, had been kept in detention by the police.
She pointed out that the Punjabgovernment had awarded her husband with a prize for his service for peace.
She asked the court to declare the detention of her husband illegal and order the police to release him.
The court adjourned the hearing till March 20 and directed the respondents to appear in person.
