No chance of seat adjustments: PTI

By Our Staff Reporter 2018-03-19
LAHORE: Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed rejected any possibility of seat adjustment with the PPP.

Mr Rasheed was responding to a statement of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah wherein he had stated that PPP could not rule out the possibility of contesting elections along with Imran Khan. He also stated that the decision of contesting elections jointly or going for seat adjustment would be decided later.

Talking to the media here on Sunday, Mr Rasheed acknowledged that there was nothing impossible in politics, but there was no possibility of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf`s (PTI) alliance or seat adjustment with the PPP. He said the PTI and PPP were two political parties withaltogether different ideologies and that anything about an alliance was misleading.

He said the PTI had yet to decide about any alliance with any political party, but it could go for some seat adjustment minus the PPP.

The opposition leader said Nawaz Sharif was trying to create an impression that a deal had been struck between Imran Khan and Asif Ali Zardari, adding that it was not possible. He said the PTI had devised its strategy for the next elections ensuring that mistakes committed in general election of 2013 were not repeated.

He further said the PML-N would not be able to prosper even under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif, adding that every mega development project was mired in corruption.

He said 56 public sector companies` affairs were being investigated and former LahoreDevelopment Authority director general Ahad Cheema had started revealing corruption in the Punjab government that would make it difficult for Shahbaz to survive.

Meanwhile, PTI central Punjab President Abdul Aleem Khan said his party had decided to approach the Election Commission of Pakistan against the delimitation of constituencies, calling it a conspiracy against PTI candidates.

He was speaking to the media before leaving for Gujranwala to finalise arrangements for Imran Khan`s visit to the party`s membership campaign on March 21. The PTI would ensure that delimitation of constituencies is revisited.

He said the party chief would visit Lahore on March 30 and 31 and meet workers at membership camps.

He said Imran would also address a public meeting in Lahore on April 29.
