THE recent Jaffar Express incident in Balochistan shook the whole country. It was a very unusual event where the terrorists hijacked the whole train carrying hundreds of passengers. While the short-term investigations will be carried out, one really needs to understand that Balochistan needs due attention of the state.
To curb such attacks in the future, some serious measures must be taken that may make the insurgents realise the futility of their actions.
As such, they must be made to understand that any type of violence cannot be justified in any shape. All the relevant stakeholders must rise above their internal political divisions and stand for the country.
They must develop a national consensus on the issue of Balochistan, and implement concrete measures to ensure economic and socialjusticein the deprived province.
