Drug peddler nabbed after shootout with police in Hassanabdal

TAXILA: An alleged notorious drug peddler was arrested in injured condition after a shootout with the police near Manoonagar in the limits of Hassanabdal police station, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.
The spokesperson claimed that the suspect was injured by his own accomplices duringthe exchange ofbre.
Soon after the incident, additional police personnel were rushed to the spot and a case was registered on behalf of the state.
A search operation was conducted to arrest the fleeing accused, he added.
Initially, the spokesman said the police received a tipoff that a `notorious drug peddler` identified as Mohsin Ali was present at his den located in the Faridnagar area.`A team of local police raided his den where he, along with his companion identified as Saddam, restored to firing at the police party and fled.
`The suspect was intercepted near Manoonagar where the police again engaged the suspects,` he said.
When the firing stopped, the police found the suspect in injured condition while his companion succeeded in fleeing from the scene, he added.
Later the injured suspect was shifted to Hassanabdal TehsilHeadquartersHospital.
The spokesman said that a search operation was conducted to arrest the fleeing accused.
Meanwhile, Rango police netted an alleged murder suspect who gunned down a tailor and critically injured his associate for refusing to stitch clothes before Eid in Kamalpur Musa village in thelimits of Hazro police station on March 10.
The spokesman said Mudassir Ali shot dead Sajid Mehmood, leaving his assistant Muhammad Ihsan injured.
Police registered a case against the suspect under various sections and launched a manhunt. Subsequently, he was arrested on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a woman lost her life after being hit by a train in Attock. The police said the woman was hit in the Jameel Town area in the limits of Attock police station.
The police and Rescue 1122 sources said that the 50-yearold woman was crossing the railway line when a Multanbound passenger train coming from Rawalpindi ran over her, killing her on the spot.
Later her body was shifted by Rescue 1122 to the Attock District Headquarters Hospital.
