Kashmir issue will reach logical end soon: AJK president

PESHAWAR: Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan on Tuesday said the Indian forces had killed thousands of people and injured many more as their only fault was that they made a struggle to claim the right to selfdetermination.

Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, the AJK president said he was hopeful that the Kashmir issue would soon reach its logical end as the people of the India-held Kashmir would not ready to bow down before Indian forces and would continue struggle for the right to self-determination.

He said the Kashmir issue should be resolved through negotiations among stakeholders, while the United Nations should play due role for the purpose and if that didn`t happen, possible clash would have very serious consequences.

The AJK president said the day was not far away when Pakistan would be among developed countries.

He said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project would further strength economic and trade activities between Pakistanand AJK.

Mr Masood said the top priority of the AJK government was economic development of the region and that a number of projects had been initiated in health, education, tourism and other sectors.

`We will make the Azad Jammu and Kashmir as a role model region for others to follow,` he said.

The AJK president said Kashmiris were struggling to get themselves liberated from the clutches of India and that the only solution to Kashmir issue was its peaceful settlement in line with the resolutions of the UN Security Council.

He said Kashmiri people were fully united and determined to continue with the struggle against Indian atrocities.

Mr Masood said Kashmiris loved Pakistan and its people andthat could easily be judged from thefact that they buried bodies of theirbelovedinPakistaninag.

He said the AJK government would continue with the moral, political and diplomatic support of the freedom struggle of the people of the held Kashmir.

Condemning the killing of innocent people in the occupied territory, the AJK president called it a `crime against humanity`.

He said India could not suppress the freedom movement of people of Kashmir.

Mr Masood lauded the government of Pakistan for taking firm stand on the core issue of Kashmir despite hectic efforts by India governments to justify its violent policies in the held territory.

He said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and AJK had historical relationship and that the role played by Pakhtunsfor liberation of Kashmir was laudable.

The AJK president urged the people of Pakistan to continue supporting Kashmiris in their freedom struggle.

He said Kashmiris wanted a peaceful resolution of the issue in line with UN Security Councils resolutions.

Earlier, the AJK president addressed business community on the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry premises and also lawyers at a Peshawar High Court Bar Association function.

President of the bar Muzzamil Khan also spoke on the occasion.

Also in a meeting with the SCCI office-bearers, the AJK president shared details about different developmental projects and future plans, and invited the business community of KP to take advantage of the opportunities in AJK to invest in the sectors of tourism, hydel power generation, education and health.

He said both Pakistan and India should take Kashmiris on board to seek a permanent solution of Kashmir issue in line with the people`s wishes.

Expressing satisfaction at the CPEC project, he said the multibillion dollars initiative would open a new vista of opportunities and strength the AJK economy to enable its people to get jobs and business chances.

Chamber president Haji Mohammad Afzal assured the people of India-occupied Kashmir of full support and said the people of KP had always extended support to the people in the struggle for their right to self-determination.
