KARACHI: The nation has spiritedly responded to the President`s call to supplement the Government efforts to provide immediate relief for the battered and uprooted tornado victims of East Pakistan.

Pakistan International Airlines has donated Rs two lakh to the President`s East Pakistan Relief Fund for the victims of the recent tornado calamity in East Pakistan. The National Shipping Corporation has donated Rs 1,01,111. The National Bank of Pakistan has announced a financial relief of Rs 20,000 to its staff affected in East Pakistan. Judges of the Karachi seat of the West Pakistan High Court have also donated Rs 1,000 towards the relief fund.

Begum Akhtar Suleiman, President, Pakistan Council for Child Welfare, yesterday [April 18] appealed to the philanthropists, foundations, UNICEF and other charitable organisations for generous donations for the tornado-hit children of East Pakistan.

Correspondent [Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Multan,] the members of the `Mooltan Lodge` of the Freemasons have severed all relations with the organisation on the plea that it is engaged in anti-Islamic activities. They do not like to be referred to as freemason any more. A meeting of members of the Multan branch held here last evening [April 17] unanimously passed a resolution announcing the breaking of relations with `District Grand Lodge` at Lahore and the `United Grand Lodge` of England.
