ILLEGAL CONSTRUCTION: Illegal constructions are on the rise in Block 2 of Karachi`s PECHS area. Some builders are raising unauthorised portions on plots of land while abandoning the practice of leaving compulsory open spaces. All corner plots are now being expanded to encroach upon the government land on the three sides of such plots. The greed to occupy illegal land is getting out of control. Can somebody check the nexus of the builders and the officialdom? Asad Wahidi Karachi PENDING SALARIES: The newlyappointed primary school teachers (PSTs) have not received their salaries for the last 10 months. These teachers had left their private jobs to join their new positions after they had cleared the screening tests and interviews. They are posted some 30-60km from their homes. Despite the challenges, they have remained committed to their duties. But it is impossible to survive without a salary for 10 months.
Developed nations give teachers their due rights and respect. However, here, they are deprived of their dignity and hard-earned money. The relevant authorities should take immediate action and disburse the pending salaries of these teachers.

I wonder why it is so difficult for the human beings to show such love, devotion and companionship to another fellow human. The human-animal relationship is flourishing at the cost of human-human conflict.

One can imagine the quality of education in such a scenario. The government should act with some degree of seriousness.
