TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of people from Jarranwala tehsil in Faisalabad staged a protest demonstration on Tuesday at District Council Chowk.

The demonstrators were protesting against the police`s failure to recover Muhammad Saleem, a young man who was allegedly kidnapped from the Bachiana police station area of Chak 563-GB.

The protesters carried placards and banners inscribed with slogans denouncing the police, and they blocked traffic on the roads leading from the chowk while chanting anti-police slogans.

According to the demonstrators, their opponents had abducted Saleem at gunpoint about 10 months ago, but the police had not taken action against the kidnappers.

The protesters feared that Saleem had been murdered and urged the police to recover his body if this was the case.

The demonstrators blamed the police for not arresting the nominated suspects and alleged that some policemen were favoring the accused party, which had led to them receiving threats.

DEATH SENTENCE: Gojra Additional District and Sessions Judge Hafiz Rizwan Aziz sentenced a murder case convict fromChak 95-JB Gahree to death and a fine of Rs500,000 on Tuesday.

The prosecution presented evidence that the convict, Muhammad Umair, and his five accomplices had shot and killed Jawad Hassan while injuring two others. However, the court acquitted all five of Umair`s accomplices, granting them the benefit of the doubt.

ELECTROCUTED: A child was electrocuted on Tuesday evening in Faisalabad`s Zafar Colony.

Rescue 1122 reported that Muhammad Zahid was playing on the roof of his house when he touched live wires passing near the roof.

SOLVED: The Gojracity police have solved a three-month-old murder case.

A police official told reporters that Tehzeeb Anwar of Chak 364 JB was sitting in his car outside a bank branch on Tehsel Office Road when two motorcyclists shot him and fled.

The police arrested the killers, Muhammad Nadim and Saif Muneeb, who admitted during the investigation that they killed Tehzeeb to avenge some harsh words exchanged between them and the deceased a few days earlier.
