RAWALPINDI: PTI Punjab chief organiser Aliya Hamza Malik, along with two other political activists, was arrested by Rawalpindi police and shifted to a women`s police station late Friday night.
According to police sourees, Aliya Hamza and two workers, including Sameer Abbasi, were detained from the Gulzar-i-Quaid area. The arrests were made in connection with a case registered on multiple charges.
A senior police official confirmed the arrests and saidthe PTI leader was transferred to the women`s police station shortly after being taken into custody.
Aliya Hamza was appointed as the chief organiser of PTI Punjab by the party`s founder Imran Khan in January this year. Her arrest follows a protest she organised in Rawalpindi on Friday, expressing solidarity with Palestine and condemning the ongoing war in Gaza.
A legal team from the police was in session to determine the registration of a First Information Report against the PTI leader, a police official said.
