Four terrorists killed in Swat operation

SWAT/DIKHAN: Security forces and law enforcement agencies on Friday killed four terrorists during a joint intelligence-based operation near Malak Ahmad Khan Baba interchange in Swat district, the military`s media wing said.
According to a statement issued by the InterServices Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was based on credible intelligence regarding the movement of militants from the Katlang area of Mardan district to Swat.
`During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged Khwarij location, resulting in the killing of four terrorists. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed Khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area,` it added.
The ISPR further said that a sanitisation operation was currently underway to ensure the area is cleared of any remaining threats. Security forces, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating terrorismfrom the country, it added.
Meanwhile in Dera Ismail Khan, two people, including a police official, were martyred in a gun attack on a police vehicle near Musazai Adda, within the limits of Chaudhwan police station on Friday.
A police official said the incident occurred when the SHO of Chaudhwan police station, Ghulam Qasim Khan, was en route to attend a court hearing at the district and sessions court.
He was traveling in a private vehicle accompanied by head constable Javed Alam Cheema and a local man identified as Ehsanullah, a hotel owner from the area.
As the vehicle reached Musazai Adda, unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire on it.
Head constable Javed Alam was martyred on the spot, while Ehsanullah sustained critical injuries.
The SHO fortunately escaped the attack unhurt.
Ehsanullah was rushed to the DHQ Hospital Dera, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Following the attack,securityforcescordoned offthe areaand launched a search operation to track down the perpetrators.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
