KARACHI: The CounterTerrorism Department (CTD) on Friday claimed to have arrested a suspected militant associated with the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

According to a statement, the CTD carried out an intelligence-based raid in Saeedabad and arrested Dahan, alias Asif Chikna, and recovered an unlicensed weapon from his custody.

The CTD had received information that he along with another suspect, Mohammed Shafi, wasproviding assistance to BLA militants in Karachi.

`Shafi is a son of BLA militant Bahadur, who is running a cell in a neighbouring country.

Bahadur`s name is also included in the CTD`s Red Book of wanted militants,`it added.

The CTD claimed that Shafi was a close aide of held suspect Dahan and lived in Hub.

The statement said that teams had been sent to Hub to arrest Shafi.

The held suspect had been arrested in murder, attempted murder and encounter with police cases. Later, he was released from prison on bail, added the CTD statement.
