LAHORE: A young man was shot dead allegedly by a shopkeeper in the Shafiqabad area on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Iftikhar Ali and the suspect as Usman Butt who fled the scene.

A footage of the incident showed Iftikhar, who was holding a pistol, tried to fire a shot at Usman who was sitting outside his shop.

According to the footage, Usman escaped unhurt, rushed inside his shop and came out with a weapon.

He then fired multiple shots and killed Iftikhar.

The police rushed to the site on being alerted and shifted the body to the city morgue for postmortem. A police official said the families of the deceased and the suspect were not aware of the dispute between them.In another incident, seven people were injured in an armed clash between two parties in the Sanda area late on Friday.

According to the initial police inquiries, the incident took place at the Dogar Market where the armed men first scuffled and then fired shots on each other.

The injured were rushed to local hospitals where condition of one of them was stated to be serious. A police official said both sides had a brawl some days back over holding monopoly in the area.

On Friday, the elders from both sides were trying to resolve the dispute when suddenly one of them got annoyed and fired shots which later led to an armed clash between them. Staff Reporter
